Special Pass

This is a temporary pass that allows one to work on short contract, obtain medical treatment, tourism and exploring business opportunities etc.

Where to apply: available online through the Immigration portal.

  1. Sponsored; this is for a person applying under a company or organisation
    Requirements
    1. Passport Copy (Bio data page) with at least 6 months validity
    2. Recent Passport-size Photograph
    3. Copy of Contract
    4. Covering letter from the company explaining reason for special pass and duration of stay
    5. Current immigration status
  2. Individual; this is for applicants that apply for the pass in their individual capacity and not under any company/organisation
    Requirements
    1. Covering letter explaining reason for special pass,
    2. documents to support stated reason and duration of stay
    3. Recent Passport-size Photograph
    4. Passport Copy (Bio data page) with at least 6 months validity
    5. Current immigration status
  3. Diplomat; this is issued to holders of diplomatic passports
    Requirements
    1. Recent Passport-size Photograph
    2. Covering letter from the Embassy (Diplomatic note)
    3. Covering letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Uganda
    4. Passport Copy (Bio data page) with at least 6 months validity
    5. Current immigration status
  4. Official; this is issued to holders of official passports, employees in organisations exempted from payment of fees
    Requirements
    1. Passport Copy (Bio data page) with at least 6 months validity
    2. Recent Passport-size Photograph
    3. Covering letter explaining reason for special pass,
    4. Documents to support official status and duration of stay
    5. Current immigration status

USD 400 for 3 months

Steps for Application

  • Step 1: Log into the Immigration Portal and select start new application
  • Step 2: Accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer.
  • Step 3: Select the visa or permit type, category and sub category
  • Step 4: Complete the application form
  • Step 5: Upload the required documents; a six-digit application ID eg. (234790123) is automatically generated as the reference number
  • Step 6: Make payment for applications that require prepayment.
  • Step 7: Upon approval, for application that don’t require top up payment, an approval letter will be generated and emailed to the applicant on the home page
  • Step 8: Upon approval, make a top up payment for applications that require a top up payment. After payment an approval letter is generated and emailed to the client
  • Step 9: Report to the immigration office/ border for biometric capture with all documents uploaded, payment receipts, approval letter and passport
  •
